And what about me? Those who know me will say I tend to be calm and positive, excited about interacting with friends and strangers alike. I like playing guitar and hiking, and spend a lot of time these days grading papers. I read murder mysteries (Agatha Christie and Dorothy Sayers are great), but my favorite author is Flannery O’Connor. Generally, I drink black tea (feel free to send some!) but I love a good cup of coffee, too.
Hello! My name is Noah Bartel, and I am a Gap Year Fellow at the Lindisfarne House, a ministry of St. Andrew's Church and Academy, at Lake Almanor, California. In this program, I have taken temporary monastic vows, and am excited to serve (and continue serving) the school and church as I grow spiritually in Christ. This program is essentially a domestic mission, and I am raising funds to support my stay here, allowing me to pray, study, and work to the glory of God for another year here at Lake Almanor.
$100.00 donated of $8,000.00 goal
What do we do here? St. Andrew’s Church is a traditional Anglican parish, offering daily sung morning and evening prayer, as well as Sunday services. St. Andrew’s Academy is a ministry of the church, and conducts a K-12 classical education to local students as well as out-of-town boarders. The school choir also sings services at the church each day. St. Andrew’s produces candles for home and church use, and a beautiful full-color liturgical calendar, and sells these and others wares (including fresh-roasted coffee!) around the country. All in all, it is a small, productive community, singing, learning, and worshiping together.
As part of the Lindisfarne House program, I assist the administration and the teachers and even get to teach Middle School Ancient History and Old Testament Bible for the Academy. At the boarding house, life includes, on any given day, cooking breakfast, mixing bread dough, helping Mrs. Foos with dinner, kitchen clean-up, and supervising students.
So, please consider sponsoring my work here at St. Andrews! My goal is to raise $8,000 to help cover the costs of my gap year as I travel with the school, make insurance payments, pay my way here, etc.
